I LOVE MY HOUSE! My 1940’s stucco house came complete with wrought iron window boxes and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them! This year I decided to plant spices in my window boxes and I opted to go the seed packet route (EVEN CHEAPER).

Holder without the boxes (yes, I need to trim my bushes) |
The house came with one plastic flower box and last year I picked up two more on sale. So to make my spices boxes a reality all I needed was some potting soil and seed packets. I hit my local little city, ND Wal-Mart and spent less than $10.00 on it all! FABULOUS!
I decided to go with chives, cilantro, and basil.
To plant simply dig a “ditch” in the middle of the box, sprinkle the seeds down the middle, and cover with dirt. Also, make sure you water and continue to keep your spices hydrated.

My view as I am planting my spices |
I actually planted these flower boxes several weeks ago (sorry for the delay, but the lake kept me busy), and I have spices growing like crazy!

They won't look like this for long! |
Stay tuned this summer for a WOM-MOM post about how I am “SPICING” up my flower boxes to add more curb-appeal to my house! I can’t wait! AND OF COURSE THIS PROJECT WILL BE SUPER THRIFTY!
