I’M A REBEL

Posted by Lori~
My pink (Ethne loves it) Finepix camera worked fine and lots of previous WOM-MOM  photos were taken by that very camera.  However, I have been itching to do a major upgrade and Steve and I took the plunge.  We were in need of a DSLR camera (remember my thrifty photo session post).  Well, you can take high-quality photos at home, but you need a high quality camera.
We purchased a Canon Rebel T3i at Best Buy.  This is the same camera owned by Crafty Katie and Holly (both friends and followers take FAB photos!).  I am hoping in the near future to get together with these “photographers” to learn some major tricks, so my photos will look professional too.

Unfortunately, due to the Tsunami in Japan, it was difficult to get this very camera.  We lucked out—and tracked down a shipment of ONE camera in Grand Forks, ND (home of major hockey).  We paid full price and had no coupon, but we did take advantage of receiving reward zone points.
But that didn’t stop Steve and I—once we got home to little city, ND we found a coupon in the mail for 10% off any full-price item.  I called the store, asked for them to honor the coupon, and they agreed.  On our way back from my hometown visit Memorial Day weekend, we stopped at a Best Buy and discovered that the camera price had dropped by $40.00.
A few minutes later, after some major store clerk convincing (NEVER BACK DOWN WOMS), and I had taken another $140.00 of the price of the camera!  SCORE!
Be on the lookout for photos, photo tips, and updates from my REBEL journey!  And of course a tutorial on how to make a super cute (Steve isn't thrilled) camera strap cover.
