TUESDAYS AT NOON: LORI ON…CRIME EDITION

Posted by Lori~
Ethne and I L.O.V.E. talking on the phone.  (This is our usual 5:00 p.m. drive home ritual).  Trust—me we are both hands free!  Of course we talk about WOM-MOM…this is a must living in two different states.

But, recently our topic of choice is the Casey Anthony trial.  If you haven’t heard of the Casey Anthony trial, then you must not watch TV, because it is EVERYWHERE!  (Keep in mind, I watch Headline News non-stop…it is my go-to channel.  It is my go-to radio station.  I had the luck of being on the road during opening arguments and listened to them in their entirety.  IT WAS FASCINATING!)  I mean this case has actual turned into a media circus (some are actually saying it is bigger than the OJ Simpson trial). I find that hard to believe, but it is definitely interesting.
EUREKA!  Ethne and I have a plan.  Maybe you’ve seen it, but Nancy Grace has a show.  I find it fascinating, but as journalism major…I can tell you it isn’t news.  It is one sided, lots of rioting, but ultimately Nancy stands up for the victims, which I LOVE.  We need a show!  We need to riot!  We would call it WOMEN ON A MISSION…CRIME EDITION!  HLN—consider us!
Here's our recap of the trial (THINK CRIME EDITION):
The state says:  Casey Anthony killed her daughter by putting duct tape on her mouth.  She then stored her body in the trunk of her car for a few days and then eventually discarded the body in a wooded area near her family home.  While her daughter was “missing” for 31 days, Casey partied hard, got a tattoo, went on shopping sprees, etc.
Her defense says:  Casey Anthony’s daughter died by accident in a drowning in her family pool.  Her father George found the body, blamed Casey, and from there the lies began.  Her father was part of it all.  In addition, her defense team is claiming that she was sexually abused by her father and her brother.  Keep in mind, her family is still standing by her (even with these allegations).  The family dynamic is crazy!
Here is what Ethne and I think:  She was involved in some way—there is no doubt about it!  She claimed that her daughter had a Nanny (Zanny the Nanny), who ended up not existing.  (Casey made up a lot of lies).  Zanny the Nanny is actually the street name for Xanax, a drug some parents use illegally to aid in putting their children to sleep (please read comments).  She used Zanny to put her daughter to sleep, she partied, her daughter overdosed and died.  She didn’t know what to do with the body, etc. etc.
I think she will take the stand.  Ethne doesn’t know if she will take the stand.  I don’t think she will get the death penalty.  Ethne thinks she will get the death penalty.  See we have differing opinions, we could riot back and forth…watch out Nancy Grace!  Here come some WOMS!

I just want to make a public service announcement for all parents reading that Zanax is a sedating and potentially addictive drug used for anxiety and should never be given to children, especially to drug them to sleep.

Casey could have drugged Caylee and probably did before so she could go out and party, but my theory is that she was mad at her and stone-cold put duct tape on her mouth and suffocated her. She's pretty antisocial-- cold, lack of remorse, chronic liar, and could totally have done something like that in my opinion.

Correction-- Xanax.
