TUESDAYS AT NOON: Lori on…Morning Person?

Posted by Lori~
This morning, I did it!  I woke up at 5:30 a.m. to go to spin class (and it was fantastic), but more on that later during a quantum leap update.  I actually woke up this morning after being woken up at least six times by Mur-Man.  Steve and I tag teamed this and handled the wake ups, however it was as if my son knew I had a plan…a plan to get fit in the morning!  (You need to know that Mur-Man sleeps through the night typically, so this was a little unusual and out of routine.)
I feel GREAT!  I turned to Steve this morning and said, “I FEEL FAB.”  And Steve asked the question:  Maybe you are actually a morning person?

A nice "morning photo", but not TOO EARLY!
My folks would laugh if they read this.  You see, growing up it was a struggle to get my butt out of bed.  My Dad always said he felt sorry for the man that married me, because he would have to deal with ME IN THE MORNING!  Dad always followed that up by offering me “bear mush” for breakfast.  Of course he was joking!

A college tradition:  but some mornings--I wish I had something like a car to beat on!
I went to college and continued on with the late nights.  I planned my class schedule so I wouldn’t have to get up super early in the morning—10:00 a.m. class was perfect.
Then I got my first job out of college…I was a morning anchor. This meant that I had to be to work by 4:00 a.m.!  Mom and Dad couldn’t believe it! I managed to make it every day on time (with the exception of one day when my producer had to literally wake me up by knocking on my apartment door—that’s another story!).  I made it, but I still didn’t love mornings.

When I think of mornings, I want to be here...

I have noticed that with age I find myself going to bed earlier and earlier. Projects don’t go into the night like they used to.
I married a NON-MORNING PERSON!  Is he influencing my night-time behavior?  I have a son who sort of sleeps in!  I couldn’t believe it myself.
This past summer we had a graduate school girl’s reunion and got together.  The most fun part was that three of us have boys right around the same age.  We compared stories, we compared bed times, and wake-up times…they were shocked!  Mur-Man slept until 9:00 a.m.?  That’s right—my little man let me sleep in (perfect for a non-morning person). (Since then he goes to bed earlier and typically wakes up around 8:00 a.m., but sometimes later!)

The boys--all right around the same age (Mur-Man is on the right)
And so, we will see how this early morning work-out routine goes.  So far so good, but will it continue?  Will I become a true morning person? Or have I always been, but my Steve is my downfall?  We will have to wait and see.  I will keep you posted!
PS:  ETHNE HATES MORNINGS AS MUCH AS I DO!
