CRASH MY COAT CLOSET (PLUS CRAFT INCLUDED)

Posted by Lori~

WOW!  CHECK OUT THIS!  I CAN’T EVEN BELIEVE I LET MY FRONT DOOR COAT CLOSET GET THIS BAD.

As you know, Steve and I live in a 1930’s stucco bungalow which equals VERY LITTLE CLOSET SPACE.  Recently, I decided it was time to get creative and organized.

The motivation actually came from a blog I recently started following, I heart organizing, and I am hooked.  I am hooked on how organization equals more time and less stress.

And the best part of this project is that it ONLY cost me around $4.00!

First up, I needed storage for my shelf and I had baskets from Mur-Man’s changing table that fit perfectly.  And we are no longer in diapers, so we no longer use the changing table.  Total cost=FREE!

During a recent Wal-Mart trip, I hit the Christmas clearance aisle and found these holiday coaster for 50 cents/pack.  They were marked down by 70% and really don’t look locked into Christmas.  I picked them up and also picked up a bag of wooden letters costing under $4.00/bag.

I took a black permanent marker to my wood letters (after determining what each basket would contain).  I came up with:  MITT (for mittens); WOOD (for our starter logs for the fireplace); COWL/HATS; and FUN BLOCK (for all things fun and safe; for example sun block, bug spray, etc).  I did NOT want to go buy another package of wood letters and for some reason this pack didn’t have one “s”.  WEIRD!  Steve especially likes MITT AND WOOD…AND TRUST ME, MITT IS NOT AFTER MITT ROMNEY!

I then had one extra pack of coasters and decided to make Christmas ornaments for:  K, E, M, and R (Ethne’s girls, Mur-man, and Rogie).

I then used tacky glue to attach the letters to the ornaments.  A scissor to cut a slit and ribbon to attach.

Check out the ornaments here:

And, check-out the AWESOME CLOSET ORGANIZED HERE:

I did use old magazines to keep my tall boots upright. And moved out of season shoes (and less popular shoes upstairs to the bedroom closet).
