Lately I’ve been making some REALLY great smoothies,
Friends, and I thought I’d share a few of the combinations. Actual recipes aren’t necessary because
it’s pretty much dump and whir in the blender/bullet.
~One of my very favorites: fresh watermelon, fresh mango, light vanilla soymilk ice
cubes (which I made), light vanilla soymilk added until everything blended
smoothly.
*Actually, for all of the liquid, you add it until it makes
the smoothie blend smoothly. If it
doesn’t, add more liquid till it does.*
~Frozen peaches, frozen blueberries, fresh baby kale leaves
(a large handful), ground flax seed (1 tsp), orange juice
~Frozen banana, fresh strawberries, frozen raspberries,
fresh baby spinach, orange juice
~Frozen grapes, fresh apple slices, fresh baby spinach,
apple or orange juice
~Fresh mango or frozen peaches, frozen raspberries or fresh
strawberries, carrot juice and orange juice
The carrot juice made things beautiful |
I’ve found that adding a handful of baby kale or baby
spinach does not affect the flavor at all (as in na-da) and when you’re using
berries they even hide the green color), so it’s a great way to add super green
nutrients.
I like to have a minimum of 3 fruit/veg ingredients, plus my
juice. I prefer to have a combination
of fresh and frozen so it’s nice and chilled, but not too frozen or I get brain
freeze.
I’ll occasionally make one that doesn’t taste all that
superb, but if you mix fruits you like and it still tastes a little meh, squirt
in a little honey (to keep it natural) to sweeten it up.
If you make too much, turn the remainder into popsicles or
put into the fridge. I find that
the smoothies keep really well in the fridge, even overnight. And the girls love them as popsicles.
