Yes, the Labor Day weekend projects continue! I love long weekends and I love getting things checked off the to-do list!
I picked up this antique (not sure of its age, but it is old) glider bench at a garage sale several summers ago for $15 bucks. It was in great condition, but was in need of a paint job. Of course, it weathered many ND winters and this weekend I managed to get around to it.
First up--I took my “mouse” sander to it to remove any and all lose paint chips (I did this onto a tarp to catch the chips so they wouldn’t end up in the lawn and of course in Mur-Man’s mouth).
Then I took primer and did a coat of paint over the entire bench. This job ended up being super tedious and time-consuming because of all the spaces, gaps, weird curves, etc., so I knew using a paint sprayer was a MUST when it came to the color step.
Steve sprayed it down with a maroon red paint (that also matched my house trim). I already had this paint on hand, so painting supplies=FREE! And the best part of this weekend's projects were that I used the same paint for my spice box upgrade! LESS BRUSHES TO CLEAN!
I do hope to add a decorative cushion in the future, but for now the glider bench is sitting under two trees in my yard and we are lovin’ it!
Yes..that is Mur-Man's sports car next to the bench!!! |
