WOM-WEEKEND: HOMEMADE LAUNDRY SOAP!

Posted by Lori~

Remember, here where Ethne gave us a tutorial on how to make homemade laundry detergent.  It was TIME FOR ME to try it and I really wanted Ethne along to walk me through the process.

Honestly it was super simple.  Remember, you can read the step-by-step instructions here.

I do have a mini food processor that we used to chop up the soap; however at the time, we could NOT figure out how to grate the soap in the food processor.  I figured it out after this photo was taken.

I do have a few additional tips for you.  If you do not want any leftover product then purchase two boxes of Arm and Hammer Super Washing Soda, one box of Mule Team Borax, and six bars of Fels Naptha Soap.  I was able to purchase all items at my local Wal-Mart store.

In addition, I purchased this cute glass container at Wal-Mart for $9.00.

This detergent needs a little more mixing!
Steve likes the idea of homemade laundry detergent, but questions...is it cheaper?  According to other blogs I have read, it averages around .07/load.  That seems cheaper--right?  Honestly, this detergent should last me FOREVER!

SUMMER "THYME" TEACHER GIFTS!

Posted by Lori~

Ethne was in town this weekend, and I was THRILLED!   We had an amazing time and of course had to rock-out some WOM-MOM projects.

It's that time of the year to celebrate our teachers. Actually, Mur-Man's last day of preschool is tomorrow.

We created a fast and easy teacher gift (and affordable too).

We quickly gathered up our supplies:  glasses (around $5.00 for 4), thyme plants (we were able to make three gifts from one plant), chalk markers, mini chalkboards, rocks, straws, and card-stock.

First up, put rocks in the bottom of the glass for drainage.  Break apart your thyme plants and place in the cups.

From there we created chalk signs (I opted to go with thyme, but Ethne included the teacher's name instead).

I hopped on the computer and whipped up a summer "thyme" cards.

I think they turned out super cute!  I promise to have more updates from our WOM-WEEKEND this week!

TOGETHER AGAIN ~ Girls Weekend in Fargo!!

Posted by Lori~

Get in!  Get Sexy!  Get it DONE!  That was our "theme" for the weekend.  And boy did we, GET IT DONE!

First up, thank you Steve for planning this girl's weekend for me.  You see, Steve was away in China (and just arrived back today), and for my birthday present he gathered my BFFs for a weekend in Fargo.  And, it was jam-packed.  And the best part was that Ethne drove in from Big City, MN!  We had a BLAST and drank several dirty, dirty, dirty (lots of olive juice) martinis.

Our first stop was the Eco Chic Junk Fest--filled with crafts and re-purposed furniture.

Check-out this adorable magnetic board made with a stove burner cover.  Ethne and I think we will make one!

Laura, Ethne, and Karla at Eco-Chic!

LOVE THIS PHOTO!  And notice behind us that you can "shop in the horse trailer"

We had our nails done here...the outside (including the car) were a little sketchy!

But the mani's and pedi's were AWESOME!

We had dinner at the Ho Do and the food was delicious!  Check it out:

And, check out those martinis!
Girl's weekends are the BEST!  LOVE THEM!  Soon enough, Ethne and I will be "together again" for yet ANOTHER GIRL'S WEEKEND!  Can't wait!

TOGETHER AGAIN…HOME GOODS!

Day 8

Posted by Ethne & Lori~

WE ARE TOGETHER!  AND WE ARE THRILLED BECAUSE WE ARE CELEBRATING V-DAY WEEKEND TOGETHER!  WE COULDN’T BE HAPPIER!

Lori is particularly fond of this photo, because it fully cuts off her double-chin!

First stop, Home Goods.  That’s right, Ethne has browsed Home Goods, but Lori is a Home Goods Virgin.  And she is impressed.

Our view of the Home Goods sign from the Caribou window!

Wow…the isles are filled with loads of anything and everything to decorate your home.  Anything and everything for a child.  Anything and everything for party planning.

Cute party idea, but we WOMS could do it for cheaper!

We found loads of inspiration and of course items that are NOT kid friendly (major breakable).

A "keep your fingers off" kind of store!

Lori walked away with silicone cupcake wrappers.  Lori plans to test this option out for WOM-MOM very soon.  Totally cost—less than $5.00 for a dozen.  This could be a very thrifty option.

We promise to test these out!

But overall, we rate Home Goods semi-affordable.  Yes, items are discounted, but not at the low rate we had anticipated.

Next up, we hit Caribou.  Caribou is perfect for WOM-MOMING!   We did some blog tab organizing.  And now we have a plan (decision done).  Stay tuned for a more organized site, complete with an easy-to-use archive system.  WE ARE THRILLED.

Reusable coffee sleeve ready to go!
Ethne WOMMING IT!

And we capped off the day with a sample of Ham Dip (which is delicious, but just happens to be our most popular blog post….we are both baffled by this, but excited).

Yes, ham dip is the MOST POPULAR!
YUMMMMMYYYYYY!

Finally, we sampled the most DELICIOUS CHEESECAKE.  STAY TUNED FOR A V-DAY TUTORIAL ON THIS DESSERT.  YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!

WOM-WEEKEND ROCKS!

We are ready to RIOT!
Ethne and I are both so excited and busy gearing up for the weekend that we don’t have anything to post about.

But rest assured, there will be loads of items to report on next week.

I guess, Steve and I could say that this will be our Valentine’s weekend…and I can’t wait.

WOMS—HAVE A GOOD ONE.  GET INSPIRED AND WOM IT LIKE US!

We promise to give play by plays throughout the weekend!  SHOULD BE FUN!  HOPEFULLY NOT TOO MANY SHINANIGANS!

VALENTINE WEEKEND WITH E...YIPEEE!

Day Three
Posted by Lori~
I will be spending Valentine’s Day with my Steve however, we have some big plans to hit Big City, MN next weekend and I couldn’t be more excited!  This “10 DAYS OF WUV” post is a tribute to my bestie and WOM-MOM CO-AUTHOR Ethne.  I am so thankful to have her in my life!

Ethne and I at the thrift stores last time I was in Big City, MN!
We need to make this weekend count and CRAM as much WOMMING into it as possible.  And so, Ethne and I have created a MAJOR LIST….here it goes!

1.    Craft—my choice (courtesy of Pinterest)

2.   Craft—Ethne’s choice (courtesy of Pinterest—however, Ethne was already talking about making a new sleep mask(I personally don't use one...but this might have to change)).

3.   Thrift Store shopping!

4.   IKEA!!!!!  I CAN’T WAIT!!!  MY FAVE!!!!!!!!

Mur-Man at IKEA during last year's WOM-WEEKEND!
5.   Coffee and WOM planning

6.   WOM-MOM work…that’s right. Our site needs some TLC and we have plans to make it bigger and better!

7.   The Home Goods store.  I keep reading about how much other bloggers L.O.V.E. Home Goods and I have NEVER stepped foot in Home Goods.  Ethne has promised me a trip to this store!

8.   We have plans to make Ethne’s recent cheesecake discovery.  That is if she can “steal” it!

9.   And of course a night on the town!  I can’t wait (this will be a no-kid weekend for Steve and I)!

Let’s face it…Valentine’s Day isn’t just for our sweeties, but for celebrating friendship and family.  Celebrating our blessings and those people that make life better each and every day!  Thank you friends!  And thank you to our followers!  Ethne and I feel blessed are truly GRATEFUL!
