As you know, Ethne and I were together in Minneapolis
this past weekend and we could not let the weekend go without doing a craft
together. In between visiting baby,
drinking coffee (or diet coke), watching football, and chatting, we were able
to squeeze one in.
I recently started following the blog, our fifth house,
and Carmel put together a great tutorial on these ornaments.
And so, I went shopping at hobby lobby after Christmas and
purchased ornaments for 50% off (or 50 cents each). I had the rest of the supplies in my craft
stash: chalkboard paint, magnetic paint,
and magnets.
It was super easy.
I started by painting 3 thin coats of magnetic paint on the
ornaments. (If I did it again, I would
have done 4 or 5 coats).
Next up, 3 coats of chalkboard paint. I of course let all paint dry in-between
coats.
Then it was time to prime the ornament by rubbing chalk
over the ornaments and then wipe it away.
Then you can write—any message you want. Not ONLY that, but I had some of my
grandmother’s costume jewelry clip on earrings.
I simply hot glued them to magnets.
There you have it!
Totally awesome!
